Making Your RV Camping Checklist

2016/7/26 14:52:34

The objective of an RV camping trip is to reconnect with nature and spend time relaxing away from the stresses and problems of everyday life. It can be rather hard to relax if you feel that sinking feeling in your gut because you have forgotten an essential item. That is why it is important to make a comprehensive RV camping checklist well ahead of your trip.

When making your RV camping checklist it is important to consider that you will be travelling in a recreational vehicle rather than staying in a tent. Therefore the items you will include will differ from those that would be on a tent camping checklist, at least to some extent. When you are making your RV camping checklist try to think about each aspect of your vacation and prepare for any eventuality.

Before You Set Of

You will need to take care of some of the items on your RV camping checklist before you even embark on your journey. For example, it is a good idea to have your vehicle checked by a mechanic to ensure that it is safe and road worthy. You should also give at least one friend or relative an idea of your itinerary in case there is an emergency that means they have to contact you during your trip. You will also need to organize your finances to make sure you have sufficient cash with you and at least one credit card.

Precautions

Ideally your camping trip will run smoothly and nothing will go wrong. However, your RV camping checklist still needs to include supplies that can be used if there is an emergency. Items such as a first aid kit are very important because you never know if someone will fall down and sprain an ankle or cut a knee. You should also make sure you bring a tool box in case of mechanical problems. A length of rope, a spare can of gas, a fire extinguisher and some 2x6 lengths of wood may also come in handy. Make sure you remember to take at least on cell phone that can get reception in out of the way places too. That way you will be able to call for help should you need it.

Cooking Utensils

Cooking utensils are a vital part of any RV camping checklist. Items such as a can opener and at least one sharp knife are very important. You should also make sure you bring a portable generator if your vehicle doesn’t have one already. Other essential items include kitchen towels, plates, cups, bowls and cutlery. Do not forget to bring dish washing soap and something to clean off the table where you eat your meals.

Clothing

If you are not prepared for whatever the weather may bring you may be limited as to what you can do during your trip. Therefore your RV camping checklist needs to include all of the clothes each person might need. Items such as hiking boots, thick socks, waterproof jackets and clothes suitable for all temperatures are necessary. You will also need to bring adequate supplies of night clothes and underwear.

Personal Hygiene

The last thing you want to do is forget to bring a toothbrush or a stick of deodorant with you on your camping trip. It is impossible to have fun if you feel dirty and unhygienic. Make sure your RV camping checklist at least includes soap, toilet rolls, shampoo, deodorant, toothbrushes, a hair brush and some toothpaste so that you can all feel clean during the trip.
