12 Camping Tips to help you camp like a pro!

Camping is a constant adventure. Millions of people head into the wilderness each year and spend time with nature, coming back rejuvenated and fresh for the grind again. In this article, we're bringing to you 12 of the top tested camping tips to help you make the most of your next camping adventure.

  1. 1.       Pitch your tent before dark! Head over into the wild before it gets dark and finish pitching your tent by the time the sun goes down.
  2. 2.       Bigger tents aren't always better! In fact, they're almost never better. If a group of you are traveling together, carry multiple two-person tents rather than a large 8 person tent. Smaller tents are more stable.
  3. 3.       Carry extra tent poles. Unless you're a real pro, you'll end up breaking a few tent poles once in a while. Always carry a few extra ones to replace them. Buy in advance and keep them with your camping equipment.
  4. 4.       Keep a window slightly unzipped at night. It keeps the moisture out. But make sure you have the window covered with a mesh to keep mosquitoes out.
  5. 5.       Carry a shower curtain. This is to place on the ground to keep you dry in case it rains and water comes into the tent. Old shower curtains will do just fine.
  6. 6.       Opt for a Mummy shaped sleeping bag. It'll keep you snug and warm. The temperature often drops during the night in the wild, and you don't want to get caught unawares.
  7. 7.       Always carry packets of Iodine. This will help purify water in case you have to drink from questionable sources. Even if you manage to boil water, add some iodine and stay safe.
  8. 8.       Keep water cold by wrapping the container in Foil.To keep water cold, use foil around the bottle. Works just like a flask would, and can be reused too!
  9. 9.       Carry Quick Cook oats rather than the full canister! You want to carry as little as you can, and more importantly, come back as light as is possible. Carry quick cook single serve cups and dispose of them wisely, rather than lug large containers.
  10. 10.   Rub Soap on your heels. Especially if you have chaffed heels or soles, keep a bar of soap handy and rub it on your feet. Will keep heels from cracking even when you're hiking in the rough.
  11. 11.   Secure your food items tied to a branch. You don't want to attract animals of any kind with the smell your food gives off. Tie them up on a branch. Even better, don't carry smelly food if you're going in to deep wilderness.
  12. 12.   Always carry a compass. Your smartphone's GPS is good enough too, but not if you run out of battery! Carry a small compass in your rucksack, and be aware of the directions you're taking. You never want to get lost in the wild!
