Start Cycling and Save the Planet

2016/7/25 11:09:18

Everyone is telling us to go green these days from the people that sell washing liquid through to the government but are we really taking note? Most homes have a recycling bin, largely because you now stand to get fined if you don't separate your rubbish and lets be honest it doesn't take much longer to put things in 2 bins rather than 1! But what about doing more, a greater number of people are washing at a reduced temperature, turning off lights and reusable bags for shopping. However, there is one thing that we don't want to give up and that is our beloved car. They are easy to jump into and to wiz to wherever we need to be, you don't have to worry about getting soaked in the rain or about your fitness levels but think what a better place the world would be if we all got on our cycles.

Cycling What to Do?
All you need to do is invest in a good bike and then you are good to go, think how much money you will save on petrol and MOT's and tax you only stand to gain! Plus you will get really fit which is big bonus! Now we are not suggesting that if you are planning a trip from London to Glasgow that you have to cycle with your luggage balanced on the back, but short trips and commuting can easily be an opportunity for you to cycle and do the earth some good.

You can choose from a huge range of bikes from ones that you can fold up and store neatly by your desk at work through to hardwearing mountain bikes that have full suspension that you can then use on the weekend which of course you will want to do in light of your new found love for all things cycling. Or even better invest in a bike that you can use to commute to work with and one that you can use on the weekend. The main crossover bike would probably be a hardtail mountain bike because it has suspension at the front so if you want to do a bit of more interesting riding at the weekend then you have some suspension but it is not too heavy to use as a commuter bike which a full suspension mountain bike would be.

If you are in the countryside and would like to take a pretty route to work and really make the most of your morning and evenings then a full suspension mountain bike would be ideal to give you a smoother and more relaxing ride to work cross country.

Cycling Stripped Bare
Some people have taken cycling and the environment to its logical conclusion, biking naked of course! The World Naked Bike Ride takes place in various cities all over the world and sees men of women of all ages and shapes and sizes taking part in a race completely in the buff! Or as nude as they dare and the law allows in some areas. You have to take your hat off to them, they are not the ones who complain about environmental disasters but stay at home and don't get involved. They are the brave ones who are getting up and getting naked to make a difference, why not go along and support them but remember you are there to acknowledge and support their huge bravery not to heckle them because they have no clothes on.

You don't have to get naked to do your bit you only have get cycling, unless you want to take part in the event of course.
