Mountain Bikes: Parts And Pieces

2016/7/25 11:40:47

Mountain biking is a fun and exciting sport. You'll be able to enjoy nature and get some exercise when you engage in this sport.

A mountain bike is a bicycle that's made especially for rough roads. Mountain bikes have some parts that aren't found on other kind of bikes. The frame or body of the mountain bike is the most major part since all the other parts will be attached to it. That is where you fasten all the other parts of the bike to. Bike frames have different sizes, shapes, and materials available.

These frames are available in steel alloys, which are quite heavy and are used in the first generation bikes. There are also aluminum alloy frames, and these are lighter and more inflexible. Aluminum alloy frames are more pliable, which means you'll get your desired shapes more easily, and it's cheaper too. If you want the lightest frame, then go with titanium, which make very durable bodies, but will cost you a lot. There are also frames made of carbon fibre and Kevlar. These types of bodies are lightweight, but tend to corrode and should be replaced when they are dented or broken.

To be able to control the bike, you have the handle bars, the crank, and the derailleur. Usually, handle bars are made to be as wide as the bike owner's shoulders, but they can be adjusted for the person's preference. Cranks are connected to the chain rings, and chain rings are responsible for the bike's motion. Pedals, which are for the biker's feet, are connected to the cranks. The derailleur shifts the chain from ring to ring to change the pedalling speed.

Shifters and gears are more mountain bike parts. These parts are connected to all the others. The shifters control the derailleur to accommodate the shifting of the gears from a low speed to high speed. The gear rings have teeth around them to enable the chains to fit into them to make the rear wheel spin. And what would a mountain bike be without brakes, wheels, and tires. A bike has brakes for it to slow down and stop, and the tires are specially made to be able to go through any kind of terrain. Front suspensions or shocks are used to ease the impact especially on rough terrain. The helmet is the number one priority accessory. Always wear one when you are riding your bike.
