Finally, a Better Guide on Shopping for Mountain Bikes

2016/7/25 11:41:51

When it comes to riding mountain bike, you have to do more than just research. The task is a little harder than it is to find a good racing bike. First, you have to ask yourself whether you want the mountain bike for road usage or not. This is because there are two types of mountain bikes, one for the road and another for off-road.

Generally, the on-road mountain bike will need less suspension and can be a bit heavier. If you prefer off-road types, then be prepared to invest more into the suspension system.

If you shop around, you will see that the standard mountain bike comes with steel frames, suspension (front or dual) and managing a speed of 21. Usually the price ranges between $250 and $300 for this one. You should get this mountain bike if you only need average speed and terrain. Also, you have to know that this bike comes with a heavier weight, typically ranging in 30 pounds. The suspension would also be very soft.

For off-road adventures, you absolutely need a bike with better suspension and reduction in weight. Therefore, you have to spend as much as $500 or more. You will see that the frames are usually made from aluminium or high-tensile steel. The speed you get is usually 24 and will weigh about 20 pounds. Suspension can also be adjusted to your liking.

However, if you are a serious rider, then you need to prepare to fork out an amount of $800. The main difference is you get a hydraulic type of suspension fork. You will also get pedals without clips. The steel material for the frame will be of high grade.

Next up the range, we have mountain bikes that will typically cost from $1,000 to $1,500. This is where the amateurs taking part in races will pay attention. The bike will have 27 speeds and a much lighter weight of 24 to 25 pounds.

For the professionals, feel free to invest up to $2,500 or more. You will find that the drive train and braking systems are on par with professional-sports level. Weight of the bike is always below 24 pounds.
