Best Hybrid Bike - What You Should Look For

2016/7/25 11:43:59

When thinking about buying a hybrid bike then it is wise to learn first about the features of the bike and the build. This applies even more so if you are a first-time buyer.

The hybrid bike is a mix of mountain bike and road bike - taking the best from both breeds, so to speak.

To more understand the features of the bike we should look more in detail at the key elements. which are the frame, gears, handlebars and wheels.

Chances are good that the frame will be made from a light weight aluminum or steel. This is because of the durability and strength of those metals.

Gears

Gears

The gears are a good mix of both bike breeds - mountain and road. This will offer a good range of gear ratios but of course is somewhat depending on price. With a nice range of ratios you have the choice and ability to handle up hill climbs or flat road speed.

Handlebars are more similar to a mountain bike - extending to shoulder width - which allows for the rider to sit up comfortably while cycling. You can thus maintain very good control of the bike and it also allows for super vision of your surrounding terrain.

The handlebars represent more the mountain bike, being shoulder width, which allows for the rider to sit in an upright position for comfort and visibility. As such you have real control of the bike movement.

Wheels

Wheel rims and the spokes tend to be more similar to a road bike, very light weight. Thus it tends not to be wise to do very heavy duty off road riding.

The wheel rims and the spokes are like those of the road bike - lighter, so its not really possible to do too much off-road riding in rough conditions.

Its ideal for road riding both for short and longer distances, while at the same time can be happily used for light off-road use too.

Make sure you do some further research with regards your specific brand of choice. Between each brand there are obviously going to be some minor differences.

If you are unsure about something, then do contact the retailer about this for further information before making any purchase and they will be more than happy to help you.
