Carbon Bike Frame - Cost-effective Or Not?

2016/7/25 12:01:31

Today we have a lot more options for bike frames then before ten years. One of option is carbon bike frame. Just take a look at automobile industry and you will see what progress they have accomplished. The same thing has happened with bike industry. Bikes are much better and easier. Today we have a whole bunch of various competitions that requires much more skills and also much better equipment. In my opinion competitions are most responsible for development in every, not just bike industry.

Today, carbon fiber is much more applicable then ever before. Many peoples think that carbon is super expensive and unreachable. They are wrong, today you can find carbon in local market place (figuratively ). It is expensive, not so much but it is. All depends on your needs. If your profession is cycling I think that you are gonna have at least one carbon frame bike. If you ride bicycle two or three times a year you will probably buy bike for hundred bucks.

So let's suppose you riding a bike much than your car ( if you have one, no offense those who haven't, I haven't either ) and you are thinking about improving quality of your riding, or you just need something better. If you have a little bit extra money and if you are willing to spend some time to find something worth spending money, keep reading.

Every body, almost every, knows that carbon frames are much lighter then aluminum frames which are also lighter than steal frames. Let's think about weight advantage for a second. Let's say you are rider for a long distance, would you pass more with lighter or heavier bike? If you are in the extreme bike riding would you have much more control on lighter, or on heavier bike? That is the reason why people buy carbon frames. Bike is lighter, you need less peddling, you can go faster, and finally you will have much more strength to achieve more distance.

There is one more reason to choose carbon bike frame. In every sport we have crashes and unexpected accidents. If you have aluminum frame there is better chance to crack than carbon frame. Carbon is much more resistive to cracking than any other material which is used for bike frames. It is also much more durable.

There are a whole team of engineers behind that material, and as I have mentioned above, carbon is used in automobile industry. Formula 1 is great example, where carbon is used for suspension parts. So if you really want to improve riding, and if you have some extra cash, I recommend carbon bike frame.
