Raising the Bar With Pro Cycling

2016/7/25 14:50:45

Pro cycling is an exciting sport to watch, as the cyclists cruise, seemingly without effort, up and down hills and around perilous corners during the race. There is also pro cycling in mountain biking now, with racers hurling themselves down the face of a mountain on narrow and treacherous trails. Both of these styles of pro cycling require pro cycling jerseys and other clothing and equipment that allow them to comfortably and safely participate in the sport. Many of these pro cyclists have corporate sponsors whose brands are listed across the face of their jerseys and other equipment.

Equipment

In pro cycling, the most important piece of equipment is the racing bike. These bikes are made specifically for the type of racing they will be used to participate in. For road or mountain bike racing, the bikes are made to be as light and maneuverable as possible for the rider. There are different sizes of bikes so that they match the size of the rider for their comfort and handling. In addition, the equipment on the bike is important, making the rider more able to shift gears up and down more easily, as well as to steer and brake with efficiency.

In pro cycling, there is certain gear that must be worn during the course of the race. In road racing, there is usually a bib short that is worn which has a sort of built in suspender so that the shorts stay in place during the course of the race. This allows the rider to stand up and sit down multiple times during the race without the shorts bunching up or getting out of place. The racing shirt fits comfortably over the bib shorts, fitting to the body for wind efficiency, and having pockets in the back for snacks during the course of the race for energy reasons. The helmet is also important in pro cycling. It protects the head during the high speed race and also helps to create an aerodynamic effect for the racer, making it easier to ride with less effort.

In mountain bike pro cycling, there are additional materials that are needed. Over the biking shorts, there are additional pads that are worn in biking pants that help to protect the tail bone and other areas from the hazards of this type of riding. The jerseys are also created with some padding in them, as well as the goggles being more heavy duty so that the rider's eyes are protected during the course of the race.
