When you need to know how to repair a Schwinn 418 console, you will probably want detailed pictures and a great deal of explanations about how to repair it. As much as you might like this, you will only find detailed instructions by reading this article. Hopefully, this will be enough for you to fix the exercise bike.

Things You Need to Repair a Schwinn 418 Bicycle:

  • A screw
  • Allen Wrenches
  • Metric Wrench Set
  • Wire strippers
  • Soldering Iron
  • A voltmeter

How to Repair a Schwinn 418 Console:

  1. Remove the screws from the bottom of the Schwinn 418 console. Carefully pry off the top of the console.  Remove the screws from the circuit board and take it out. Examine the wires. Most problems with the console come from a lose wire. Lose wires can be fixed with a soldering iron.
  2. Find the bad connection. Use the voltmeter to find the delayed circuit. Use the wire stripper to remove insulation fro the wire. Find the bad connection to the board. Use the soldering iron and the wire to reconnect the wire to the board. If it still does not work, it may be necessary to replace the circuit board itself.
  3. Find a dealer that sells Schwinn replacement parts.  Most dealers sell the entire console rather than just the circuit board. Order the new console and wait for its delivery.
  4. Remove the Schwinn console from the bike entirely. Remove all the wires from the circuit board and throw the circuit board back out. Use the wire stripper to allow greater access to the wire if necessary. Solder the wires onto their proper connections. The wires are usually color coated.
  5. Reattach the circuit board to the Schwinn 418 console. Place the top cover back on the bicycle’s information panel. Go back underneath the bicycle and attach the console with the screws that came out of the bottom of the panel.

Test the bike out and see if the console works. If you have done everything correctly, you should have access to the Schwinn 418 console’s features.
