How A Professional Cycling Coach Can Improve Your Cycling Performance?

2016/7/26 16:18:24

Many people don’t know what a professional cycling coach can do to help them improve their cycling performance. Read this article to learn how a professional cycling coach improves your cycling performance by monitoring your heart beat. Actually, this is a type of training where you use a heart rate to track your efforts and progress. But you don’t need to spend thousands of pounds, because a single HRM costs that 50 or more can be enough to begin with. Of course, if you work with a professional cycling coach, he can recommend the best device.
Before you start heart rate training for improved cycling performance, you need three measurements, namely, resting heart rate, lactate threshold and maximum heart rates. A professional cycling coach can measure these for you or else, you can ask a local cycling training centre to help you take these measurements. Keep in mind, the more accurate your measurements, the more effective your heart rate training.
The best way to measure your resting heart rate is to measure it in the morning before you get out of bed. You can also measure it on a weekend when you wake up naturally, your rate will be quite relaxed. Just take a simple digital watch and count the number of your heart beat per minute. This is how you get your relaxed heart rate. The lactate threshold measurements are the most inconvenient measurement to take and it is quite impossible to take this measurement on your own. Hence, the best way to measure it is hiring a professional cycling coach. The measurement can be done either on a turbo trainer or on the road, but it’s easier on the turbo trainer.
Warm up for half an hour by doing simple cycling or stretches. Then, ride as hard as you can next half an hour. Your average heart rate over the last 20 minutes will be around your lactate threshold. Make sure you reset your heart rate monitor before the last 20 minutes in order to calculate the average. As it is quite complicated, hence, you are recommended to do this test indoors and with a professional cycling trainer to help you.
The heart rate measurement test is the easiest one, but at the same time, it is the most inflexible measurement to take. Maximum heart rate is simplest because it is just the fastest rate of your heart beats, but measuring it is not that much easy because you need to go your maximum capacity, to measure your maximum heart rate accurately. Before measuring your maximum heart rate, consult your doctor or a professional cycling coach.
The maximum heart rate measurement test can be taken on an indoor bicycle as well on the track going uphill. It is doesn’t matter which one you choose. Just warm up as you would to test your lactate threshold, then ride up to your maximum capacity on the indoor bike or uphill for at least 2 minutes, then have 1 minute recovery by slowing down or going downhill. After 1 minute recovery, repeat the aforesaid procedure until you feel that you can’t do it anymore. Then count the number of your heart beats in 1 minutes, this is your maximum heart rate. These are some important things you must be aware of before starting the heart rate training and the cycling training program. If you want to improve your cycling performance, hire a professional cycling coach who is expert in cycling and triathlon.
