Fishing for Recreation Guidelines

It is surprising just how many people still think that fish are just a resource to be used merely to survive or an easy meal but there is something else that is not widely known. The manufacturing industry processes more than 2,000,000,000 pounds of fish and fish by-products every year. It seems odd, but, this is slightly more than what we use for food.

What the majority of people don't realize is that the sport of fishing is providing a convenient recreation which has turned it into a pastime for all ages. In fact, as a hobby, it is becoming more popular and that is why the number if individuals who apply for a fishing license annually numbers nearly twelve million

In addition, surveys show that with every dollar spent in a fishing license sixteen additional dollars are spent for equipment, such as fishing tackle, food, clothing, and transportation. You might be amazed to find out that there is more money spent on fishing than any other hobby.

So why do so many people consider this a great hobby? It is a way of providing a way to free the mind of stresses and daily worries. It also helps in assisting and mentoring troubled teens by filtering out negative thoughts and activity with more positive traits and pursuits. Fishing is no doubt a challenging activity.

All the different variations of equipment have helped to add things to the hobby that other features could possibly accomplish. Now thousands of youngsters are anxious to learn how to cast a line. These children are wanting to fish and they want to fish in a lawful and fun way.

Stripped down to it's fundamentals fish and fishing might be seen as just one of man's few essential resources. It is hoped that further realization of fishing as a hobby will develop knowledge of the real value of fishing including the fish, and conservation of natural resources and the value of good sportsmanship and the development of good citizens.
