Map of area hit by Frances and Jeanne... This is the Approximate path of the eye. Areas within 30 miles either side of this were had severe damage. 40 to 60 miles out were hit hard. Rain totalled over 17 inches in both occurrences. Sebastian Inlet avbove Fort Pierce is only 20 miles north, and damage there was severe.The areas where the eye went over got what is called the eye wall. This wall has the most severe winds and rain, and also can develop tornadoes.
