Go To The Rivers To Fish For Small Mouth Bass

When it comes to catching bass it doesnt get much more fun then when you can get them coming out of the rivers.  While fun to catch we all know that a small mouth bass can be one of the hardest fish to catch when it comes to fresh water.  Now that you have decided to throw in a river current you are setting yourself up for the fight of the century.  You could never say that fishing for small moutth bass in a river is boring.  It really is something that every single fisher person should do at some point in their lives.

When we talk about rivers we can be talking about rivers that are 10 football fields wide or rivers that are barely 10 feet wide.  For this article I want to focus on the smaller rivers and how effectively they can be fished.  Of course the huge rivers produce lots of and great big bass but those are the ones I dont want to talk about today.  To me its about being able to walk down the middle of the river and fish for the bass.  This could be very much because I also love fishing for trout.  So for now when I talk about small mouth fishing in rivers I am talking about small rivers.

Chances are when you go out fishing for small mouth in the river is you will be wading.  A good technique to use for the small mouth is a technique called drifting.  Drifting has proven over and over again to be a great way to catch small mouth bass.  Drifting really isnt anything special.  All it means is allowing your bait to float with the natural flow of the water.  You can use pretty much any type of hook you so desire when it comes to drifting.  As long as the hook isnt too heavy to stay up in the current.  When it comes to drifting its a technique of fishing that everyone should try and enjoy.

When we talk about small mouth bass we are talking about very active predators.  This makes live baits like leeches, minnows, worms and so forth great to use when fishing for small mouth bass.  When it comes to live bait, the easiest to use and carry when wading in the river is worms.  However no matter what live bait you choose to use as long as you rig it up and present it properly you should have a lot of action happening.  What I am saying is make sure your live bait is as presentable and real action looking as possible.

At the end of the day when it comes to fishing for and catching small mouth bass in rivers you probably wont experience much more fun then that.  Fishing at any time is great.  Now you are mixing river bass fishing into the mix, well how much better does it get then that.

Bottom line is you need to keep on fishing.  If catching a fish is what you need to do then catching a fish is what you should do.  Please always remember that a bad day of fishing is better then a good day at work.
