Bass Fishing at Night

    It appears that many bass anglers evolve into nocturnal creatures about the time the weather begins to get hot, for some this is because of the sun and the heat, for others it is because of the pleasure boaters, but to many they turn to night fishing because of the fish they catch. Regardless of the reason many choose to night fish, it has gained popularity over the years. Black light companies have cashed in over the years as one of the tools of the trade.  In this post let us look at some top fishing tips for after sunset.     

 Top water lures at night do much better if they are darker colors such as black, blue green something that will give some contrast against the sky.  After our eyes adjust to the dark we can see fairly well, but when we look into the water it looks black. For a bass looking upward, they use the light in the sky to see their prey. A light color lure often results in a missed strike for this reason.  Lure with multiple colors that contrast do well giving the bass a target area to hit. The same can be said for larger lures at night, they produce more vibration and sound and have a larger profile to silhouette at night against the sky.     

 Fish near cover at night, just like in the light, bass are foraging on the bait that is using the cover for protection and using the darkness for ambush. They see very well in low light but also use their lateral lines to detect motion. Lures that make
