Vacation is Over. What's next?

2016/7/18 14:13:35

Tonight is the last night of my holiday vacation.  I gathered my work clothes and packed my lunch.  As I was getting ready for the work week I asked myself, "What didn't I do during this holiday season?"   The list is short.

I was extremely fortunate to get a basic understanding of ice fishing.  After meeting a number of members of Fish Explorer, my appreciation of hard water has greatly increased.  Every member that I bumped into on the ice was extremely helpful and courteous, this speaks volumes about the members of Fish Explorer.  Who knew staring down a hole could be so fun!

I cheated a little bit and had a great day on the open water  at Rampart.  I threw spinners given to me from "Home of the Brave Outdoors."  Throwing spinners into the inlet was a blast.   After a great day on the ice I took the Weber grill out and devised a new way to smoke trout.  First time worked perfectly!  28 members of our family seemed to love it.  There were no leftovers.  They were all a little surprised that I did it on a Weber grill.

While there is still ice on the water, I have been thinking about the warmer months and a very special place up on the South Slope of Pikes Peak.  I have been meeting city officials and talking with different groups involved in the opening.  I will be writing, in detail, about The South Slope of Pikes Peak in the coming month.  After reading  500 pages of information, city financial statements and Colorado Springs City Code, my mind is full of information.  While construction continues, volunteers are still needed.  Next month  I will outline project history, what needs to be done, what has been accomplished and who you can contact if you want to help.   If you have any input please contact me.Cannot wait to see everyone at ISE this coming week.  I am sure this will be great to find new friends and new fishing buddies.
