How to Improve My Golf Swing

The Golf Swing is a very interesting topic. Timing is the key towards a successful golf swing. If your timing is tad out then not enough energy will be generated to send the ball into flight.

The most underrated move in the golf swing is the FORWARD PRESS. The forward press is what initiates the golf swing. Some of the greatest golfers in the history of game had some sought of forward press to start the golf swing. For example, Sam Snead shifted is weight slightly forward just before starting his backswing. Ben Hogan kicked his right knee inwards, Lee Trevino did a little shuffle, Jack Nicklaus swivel his head to the right slightly, and Gary Player also kicked his right knee inwards.

The forward press brings a nice fluid motion to the golf swing. For example get a bucket. Fill it half with water and then try swinging the bucket back and through. I bet you won’t be able to swing the bucket from a dead still position. In order to swing the bucket smoothly you will have to shift your weight slightly forwards which moves your hands forwards as well then you will be able to swing the bucket smoothly. The same thing applies to your golf swing.

To keep my golf swing in a nice fluid motion back and through. I start with a little forward press by kicking my right knee inwards, with my club head going back nice and low. When the club head reaches hip level, the wrist cock naturally happens. At this stage of the golf swing the club shaft in relation to your hands and arms should be in a L shape format.

As the swing continues to the top of the backswing for right handed golf swing, the golfer's left arm should be straight and check to see that your wrist is not cupped at the top of your swing, which will cause the club face to open at impact.

You initiate your downswing with your hips first. This will naturally drop your arms into the, magic slot position.

From the magic slot position, the wrists begin to uncock and snap through at impact position sending the ball into flight. During this moment of your swing your arms will be fully extended and the club face pointing towards the target as long as possible. As you transfer your weight onto your right foot the club should swing naturally around your body and resting on the back of the your neck.

I hope this article helps you in improving your golf swing.

Cheers!
