Instructions for your Advance Golf Shots

2016/7/20 10:41:42

There are some golf shots that are just harder than others.聽 Even on relatively easy golf courses, you are bound to hit your golf shot in a bunker, under a tree or wind up with a less than ideal lie.聽 The key to successfully playing these more 鈥渁dvanced golf shots鈥?is proper setup.聽 Here are a few advanced golf shot tips to set up properly every time.

Advanced Golf Shot: Hitting Over a Tree

1.Figure out the distance you wish to hit the ball and take one longer club than usual for that distance.聽 For example, use a six iron for a distance you would normally use a 7 iron for.
2.Position your body so that that ball is farther ahead in your stance.
3.Slightly open your stance and open your clubface slightly.
4.Take your normal swing and watch the golf ball fly clearly over the tree.

Advanced Golf Shot: Hitting Off an Uphill Lie

1. Position your body so that the golf ball is closer to the higher foot.
2. Align you shoulders, hips and knees with the slope.
3. Use a less lofted club鈥攁n uphill lie promotes higher trajectory and shorter distance.
4. Keep most of your weight on the back foot throughout the swing.
5. Swing along the slope and maintain your balance.

Advanced Golf Shot: Sidehill Lie with Ball Above Your Feet

1. Grip down on the club.
2. Position body so that the golf ball is further back in your stance.
3. Adopt more of an upright set up/spine angle.
4. Remember, when the ball is above your feet, you will tend to hit the ball toward the left, so aim slightly to the right of your target.

Advanced Golf Shot: Lob Shot

1. The 鈥渓ob shot鈥?is typically used inside of 40 yards to the cup to get the ball up quickly and land with little roll.
2. To achieve proper loft with less roll, use a lob wedge (60掳) or sand wedge (56掳).
3. Position body so your weight is 鈥?0/40鈥?favoring the front leg.聽 Keep this weight ratio throughout your swing.
4. Position body so that the golf ball is just forward from center.
5. Hinge your wrists early in the backswing.
6. In the downswing, hold the clubface open even after impact.
