Golf Tips For Better Driving

2016/7/23 14:37:41

Do you have drive shots that are consistent and stay in play? If you have problems in this area use these golf tips for better driving which will help you to get your golf drive swing right and hit straight down the middle of the fairway away from problems.

Balance

A common fault is lack of balance but most club golfers don't recognise it as being important so don't work on it. They are so busy worrying about keeping their head down, their left arm straight and ball placement that they tend to forget about balance. In actual fact balance is as important as all the other parts of the swing.

To maintain your balance in the hitting area you need a smooth, controlled transfer of weight on to the left side. If golfers suffer from lack of balance it is commonly at this stage of the swing - commonly caused by a frantic lunge at the ball from the top.

The difference between good and bad balance can be spotted easily in the follow through position. If you swing too hard you will swing yourself off your feet. Your rhythm and timing will be improved with correct balance and it will also keep the club head on the correct swing plane throughout your swing.

To be a consistent striker of the ball good tempo and rhythm are crucial. Even if your set-up is perfect and you swing the club head along the correct path, you only play effective golf when your tempo and rhythm are relaxed and smooth.

In a vain attempt to work up power and distance, most players swing the club too fast. To find your natural tempo and rhythm concentrate on swinging the club smoothly. Start with just a half swing. Move onto a three quarter swing and then a full swing when you achieve a solid and consistent strike. It is vital that you concentrate on keeping a good tempo and rhythm when playing a round of golf.

Positive Approach

Never hit your driver flat out, even though your driver is a distance club, unless you are despairing and willing to take a risk. The well known phrase that you should swing your driver like a 9 iron is a great piece of advice. Always try to swing at approximately 70% of full power. This will give you the distance you need but more importantly the control needed to regularly find the fairway.

A positive frame of mind when you stand on the tee is vital. The difference between a great shot and a disaster can be how you feel when you step up to the tee.

Make sure you tee the ball up high enough to ensure that the ground doesn't come into play. Choose a good, flat patch of ground on the teeing area to ensure that you have a good foundation for your swing.

If you follow these golf tips for better driving you will stay on the fairway out of trouble and therefore get more enjoyment from your golf.
