  • Usually two players need to compete in the game, with a prime target to wound the ball attached to a cord, which is attached to 10ft pole completely, before the opponent do.
  • The server gets the flexibility to choose the direction for serving the ball & the ball must wound the pole one revolution before the opponent can touch it to swing it in the other direction around.
     
  • Both the players must stand a measured distance apart from the pole, violating which might result in their termination from the game.
  • Both the players are prohibited to use any part of their body, except hands for swinging the ball around the pole.
  • The objective of the game is framed in such a fashion so that the opponent can alter the direction by only one hit at a time. Generally, the ball is punched with a fist or slapped with open hands.
     
  • To draw the conclusion of the game, the ball must wrap up to a specified marked point, which decides the winner of that round.
     

Often physical trainers & school gym teachers are bombarded with the repetitive questions forwarded by the students such as "how to be good at tetherball." The logic is quite simple – it's all about precision of serving & interception of the shots received from the opponents & to counteract with enough strength so as to wrap the cord around the pole in the fastest way possible, without furnishing the opponent a second chance to alter the direction of the ball's rotation.
