Professional diving is the most practiced worldwide, whether scientific, professional or simple recreation. For the latter, Costa Rica is one of the most sought after destinations today. Diving has become a very useful activity for locals who live along the coasts of the country. Costa Rica is a beautiful place that is located in Central America. It is small, peaceful and also one of the few countries in the world without an army.

A very special feature of Costa Rica is that you can go scuba diving in both the Caribbean Sea, on the Atlantic coast and in the Pacific Ocean. In fact, for many people who love diving, this country is a great paradise. Several places like the Golfo Dulce in southeastern Costa Rica and the Gulf of Papagayo in the northeast are points that you cannot miss when you want to dive. Its seas has as attractive, coral reefs and hundreds of fish and other species of natural beauty underwater. Of course, this option is excellent for those who are looking or want to enjoy a quiet activity and landscape without much adrenaline or excitement.

The highlight for professional or intermediate divers is in a little place south of the country called "La Isla del Coco" (Cocos Island). Located about 340 miles in open water, this uninhabited island of just 24 square kilometers shows a diving enthusiast a paradise that cannot be compared. Due to the deep waters and underwater currents, hundreds of thousands of sharks, rays, dolphins, along with other fish, come to this place, both to feed and reproduce.

The landscape and ecological beauty of the island made the Costa Rican government postulate the island to the contest of the New Seven Wonders of the World in the year two thousand nine, having won the second place in the category of islands. As scuba diving is one people's choices and favorite activity, visiting Costa Rica with its seas and Cocos Island is a great way to enjoy this wonderful activity.
