foul or fair?

Question
The batter hits an air ball over to third base and the batter run to catch the ball... the ball hits his mit and falls to the ground... is that considered a foul ball or a fair ball.

Answer
Not sure I understand your question. If you meant to say that the "fielder" runs to catch the ball, then it depends on where the ball was when it hit the glove. If the ball hits the glove while the ball is in fair territory (regardless of whether the fielder is in fair or foul territory), then the ball is considered fair, no matter where it lands. On the other hand, if the ball is touched in fair territory and then lands fair, it's a foul ball.

Hope this helps.
