baseball scoring

Question
how would you score an unassisted triple play on a scorecard?

Answer
Larry:

In this scenario as an example:

1.  Runners on first and second, no outs

2.  On the pitch, both runners are running

3.  Batter hits a line drive to the shortstop, who catches it close to second base, steps on second to record the out on the runner from second, then tags the runner from first base who is close due to running on the pitch.

In the book, record U-TP / L-6, in the hitters box

In the runner on seconds box, record U-6 and the same for the runner at first U-6

Very rare indeed and a moment to remember when they do.

In 46 years of playing and coaching I have only been involved in two triple plays, both were assisted, which are more numerous due to more available circumstances that let them occur.

Thanks for the question.

Yours in baseball,

Rick
