Choosing the right ball

Question
I am currently using a used Ebonite Omega Lion ball to learn how to hook and I want to get a new ball. I am not sure how to choose a good ball to replace my Lion. The leagues I bowling in usually have medium to light oil and the lanes are never consistent. I am not a high rev bowler but not necessarily a low one either.

Answer
Hi, Erica!

Ahh, the Lion. I had one and truly loved it! It was a great ball in its day and that day is long past. You certainly do need a new piece of equipment to deal with today's conditions. However, I wouldn't have a clue what that would be. The IBPSIA (International Bowling Pro Shop and Instructor's Association) pro shop professional in your area is familiar with the type of lane surfaces and oiling patterns used by the center. Since every bowling center is different, there are many alternatives and s/he will know best what will work in your center with your speed and rotation and rev rate.

You can search ibpsia.com by location to find an IBPSIA shop in your area. I would also suggest that you have your fit checked to be sure the ball fits your hand perfectly. That's something you should do every year!
