Double TE formation

Just looking for some of the good and bad on running a double TE formation as your base offense as opposed to the HB/FB formation.  Which formation do you like better,  which leads to more wins in the NFL.

Dan, from what I can tell, the best way to win in the NFL is to gameplan every week - to tailor your gameplan to accentuate your strengths and exploit the opponents weaknesses.

Last year the NE Patriots did not have the personnel to run a two TE set - they almost never ran it.  This year, when it has made sense (like against Atlanta) they ran it alot.

I don't think the point is the formation per se, but the right formation for that opponent, at that down and distance, at that time of the game, given the personnel both sides can field.

That being said, I think atheletic TEs who can go up high to catch the ball presents a mismatch over LBs, more so than another wideout against a corner.  Two TE sets are increasing in the NFL as teams get more atheletic TEs with which to fill out that set.
