Spike or block serve

Question
I read your answer, but is it illegal for just a front row player or any player if they attack a serve? I always thought it was illegal for a front row player to block or attack the serve, but your answer did not state that.

To make sure that all my readers young and old can understand some of my comments, I have chosen to use simple vocabulary words and interpret the rule for this sole purpose.

Hello John, I don't know where I might have stated that one might be able to spike a serve or block a serve. I'm sure it's just a misunderstanding. I have answered so many questions that I don't know which question you are referring to but let me expand on this rule.

No front row player can block a serve by either simply raising there hands up without jumping or by striking(spiking, attacking) the served ball. If not all tall blockers would raise their hands without jumping during every serve.

There is a way that you can block and spike a serve while being a front row player but for the sake of not arguing with everyone I will not show anyone even though it is very simple to do.

In my play books I do have back row players playing as decoys coming to the front and pretending to hit or interpret a front row player of course they never get the ball and if by accident the setter gives them the ball then they just stand and set the ball over.

There are a lot of "what ifs" with all the rules but that's good that the rule book is not as big as the football rules. There are a lot of loop holes. Referees who are also players usually get away with different things.

Hopefully this clears up the misunderstanding.
