2nd the latch connectors are called ferrules
3rd to describe this give a complete description:
Reel seat and handle; is  it below, above or both ?
Check metal for id and patents ? What is it made of; bamboo ( flat sided) fiberglass or graphite ( round)? Weight in oz?
Where and when was it purchased ? What type of metal nickel-silver, tin, or chrome platted brass? A complete description of any logos or labels. Length of rod per section and number of sections. Total rod length.

Your rod is an 18 or 19th century rod , if I understand your description correctly and is out of my experience.

He has written a great book "Rod Crafting A Full-Color Pictorial & Written History from 1843-1960 " which  has allot of wooden and older  rods in it and he knows these really old rods pretty well.  If you contact him tell him Mac from Denver sent you.
