flounder fishing

What is the best bait to use to catch flounder in Florida?Also what is a good location to catch flounder in florida?

Hi Dale;
    I cannot help with a specific location for Florida flounder since I do most of my flounder fishing up north here on LI NY.  And as for best bait, that often depends on what the fish are eating at the particular time of year when you are fishing for them and the specific area you are fishing.  From my own experience, fishing in Long Island Sound when there are small squid present, there is no better bait than fresh squid.  And at that same time, fishing in the back bays, squid is a poor choice since they do not go there and the flounder are feeding on grass shrimp and killiefish.  So those are the most effective baits.  As the season progresses, other food sources become preferred, and these in turn make the best baits.  It is very much like the fly fishermen's expression of "match the hatch" in selecting the appropriate fly when fishing trout.  The best advice I can offer you is to go and visit a local bait shop when you intend to fish, and go with what ever bait is suggested.  Most local bait and tackle stores (not big chain department stores with a sporting goods section) are up on the most recent fishing reports and should sell you the most appropriate bait.  Just ask.
