Rule 7-1b practice

Question
Before a shotgun start, while waiting for the siren, I hit some practice balls from the rough and directed them off the course into a river which is not part of the course. Subsequently I was disqualified under rule 7.1b for practicing on the course before a round. Is there a definition of what "a competitor must not practice on the competition course" means and in your opinion, do you agree with this disqualification?

Answer
Steve,

It's not what my opinion is Steve but I can tell what you can practice before a stroke play round according to the rules. You can practice chipping or putting near the 1st tee box that you are about to play. That's it. Anything else will result in a two stroke penalty, not disqualification.

Thanks for the question,
