Golf Backswing

Question
Hi ive been looking at john dalys backswing when he was younger.

He has a huge rotation of the torso.

I was wondering what allows this rotation? I know hes really supple and flexable.

But is it somthing like his tendons or tissue or muscle that stretches.

Im just unsure about what makes somones torso be this stretchy.

Thanks Ryan

Answer
Hi Ryan:

He is extremely flexible (or was until he put on so much weight).  Experts in sports call it Long.  An athlete who stretches out more than most is considered long.  John Daly would fit that bill.  His swing took on the shape it has and he developed it nicely.  Obviously he seems flexible and has elasticity of his tendons.  But he has practiced that swing for a long time and it works for him.  His body has adapted beautifully to it.
