Value on a used boat

Question
Hi Bert,

I am new to the boating game.  I am interested in buying a good used boat.  I have found one 1989 Maxium - 23` - 5.0 Mercury ib/ob - fully loaded - bimini and full cover - bathroom - ship to shore radio, depth finder, compass, refridge - just to name a few and all in good shape.  The trailer is included and is a dual tandem trailer with surge brakes - brakes and tires all new since last year.  The man who is selling is retired.  He is asking $8,000 - is this a decent price or not in the ballpark?  Is there someway to find like a blue book value on used boats that you know of?  I would appreciate any comments you may have.

Thanks,

Sue

Answer
Hi Sue   Your local boat dealer should have the book that you seek also you might check with your banker. If all is as you say,the $8000 sounds like a real good price, just remember that a 23ft boat is quite a large boat and it will take a large vehicle to pull it around.  Good luck
