Question
Where can I find reliable statistics on rock climbing accident rates?

Answer
Chaz---The American Alpine Club publishes an annual "Accidents in North American Mountaineering"
which costs about $10 and is available from the club or from booksellers like Amazon.com.

The Union of International Alpinism may also have some data, but I have not yet search for this.  They have a website-UIAA.

The Alpine Club data is usefull, but it may be flawed by the fact that it relies on outside parties reporting to the editor.  My understanding is that the editor does not actively  search original sources for the accident reports.
