Question
Hi, not sure if this is exactly your area but it seemed that "Rowing" was the closest to a kayak event question. We live in Los Angeles and we just watched some Olympic coverage of the whitewater kayak competition in Athens. Do you recall where and at what venue this competition was held during the Los Angeles games of 1984? I know its a history question but we cannot seem to find the answer anywhere! Thanks a million for any info you can provide. Tim Halloran.

Answer
Hi Tim: The Kern River, located near Bakersfield, CA, was the venue for the 1984 Olympic Whitewater "Kayaking" (better known as rafting) events.  The following website germane.
