2k time for Lightweight?

Hi, I'm a 16 year old in my second year of rowing. I average at about 130 pounds and I was wondering if my 2k time, 8:33, is any good compared to the national average. And is it what colleges are looking for? I know it's not the best, but I'm pretty satisfied with the results.

Hi Naomi: Your time is right around the world average (8:33.5), based on times posted on the Concept II website.  The median time is 8:30, so you are slightly below the 50th percentile.

While colleges are not going to beat your door down to recruit you solely on erg time, if you have a lot of on-water racing experience and can get your erg time down to the 8:15 range, you can join most any crew as a walk-on.
