ski storage

Question
Hi Glenn:
Thanks for being available.  Can you answer a question a few friends of mine have had.  When storing skis is it better to store them tightly together, nesting with snow brakes engaged or not?

My concern was would the natural camber of a ski be diminished over time.  I've had conflicting answers from friends.

Thanks,
Dave W.

Answer
Hi,

With modern materials used in the manufacture of  skis the danger probably does not exist because the relative relationships of the materials involved in making the skis that determine the camber are not affected by this light a reverse pressure. The real problem is that if you store your skis base to base like this that there will be some slight amount of condensation trapped between the edges that will cause rust. This is soemthing that you would want to check on as the humidity and temperature in the storage area are the contributing factors here.
