Can I have those Links you have?...

2016/7/22 11:38:35

Question
If you don't mind, I would like to take a look at those links you said you had.....and here are my questions in case these links won't help.

I'm fairly new at snowboarding, and I'm having a little trouble getting the toe side turns down.  Its when I coming off a heel side turn and trying to go into a toe side turn (carving) that messes me up.  My board seems to catch somewhere in transition....and it discourages me to try it when I'm going fast.......could you offer any help.  Also....could you describe to me what you do when you hit a jump.  I've tried, but as soon as i hit it....I get discombobulated in the air and crash and burn.....any tips on that?
Thanks
Eric

Answer
Don't worry keep riding and the carving will come in time.  2 things you can focus on are.. try and ride fakey or backwards. This should help and feel really ackwards, in my experience teaching, everyone always has one way they can turn really well and one way that puts their face in the snow. Also practice what is called J turns. It is called this because it looks like the letter if you do it correctly. This is a series of one way turns in your case toe side.  Focus on the bottom part of the J and try to not spread the snow but make a deep thin line in the snow.  This will improve at your higher speed carving.  Start on some steep flats and try at least 3 at time ending at almost facing uphill before starting down the fall line.  As far as catching air...I would really work on turning before going to big.  But compression and balance is key.  I would stick to the nice powder lanch pads and really focus on staying straight in the air and try to absorb the landing with both feet.  Again practice the small hits and move up to larger ones after you can turn both ways at high speeds.
