windsurfing second board

Question
Hello! I have been windsurfing for a few years now on an old bic board with a daggerboard that cannot be move while sailing and a tie on boom. I am starting to get tired of my boom loosening up and not being able to plane on my board. I am 16 160 pounds 6 foot and i want a new board. I dont know if I should get a board with a movable dagger board or if i should just get a shortboard. I like to surf off the beach on the deleware bay but I also windsurf in a bay in ocean city that has is smaller. I like to windsurf in higher winds and I am usually hanging off the sail half way down to the water. I love to windsurf but my equipment is holding me back and I just want to know what equipment I should look for. Thank you in advance!

Answer
You sound like you are ready for a short board. I would recommend you get a board without a daggerboard.  If you have any windsurf shops close to you, you should try to demo a board to try sailing a board without a daggerboard. Look for a board in the 115 to 125 liter range for your first shortboard. Try to find some good used equipment and get a latch on boom and decent sail.  Try looking on Craigslist but stay away from equipment older than 10 years old.
