extended length of snorkel tube

Question
I would like to vacuum the bottom of my pool by swimming along the bottom (max depth 7 feet) and holding the vacuum head in my hand, by wearing a weight belt and extending the length of my snorkel tube so it would extend out of the water, (safely attached to a floating device).  Is this possible or safe?

Answer
Eric,

First and for most what an imagination. I would have never thought to vacume my pool that way.

Now, I don't know your swimming abilitys so I can not say if this is safe. I can say that if you are a good swimmer and are not just holding your breath you should be alright. The key here is not to hold your breath and risk blacking out. I do think this is possible, but I am not sure how much air you will actually get if you extend a snorkle tube aprx. 7 feet. I am a firefighter and know a thing or two about friction loss. with that length of tubing and the width being no more than 1/2 you are not going to get enough air through the tube to reach you. I guess that is about all the advise I have for you.

Let me know how and if things work out!!

Josh
