rock vs cena

Question
QUESTION: why has the wwe made this match fir next years wrestlemania ?
also i know its just been made but who do you think wwe will give the win to ?

ANSWER: Hi Conor.  Thanks for the question.

That's a very good question, and I don't know for sure why they announced it so far in advance.

One thing that comes to mind is that it appears that The Rock isn't going to work a full time schedule with WWE, so making the match now will answer the fans question whether he is going to come back or not.  There's also the element of surprise, in that he could show up on Raw or PPVs at any given time.

Also, it just keeps the angle going between The Rock and Cena.  This way we at least know there is going to be a match between the two of them.  It would have been a disappointment if there wasn't a big follow-up after what happened at WrestleMania.

It is really hard to pick a winner at this point.  To me, it depends on whether The Rock will be sticking around after WrestleMania 28 or not.  If he does, I would say The Rock wins, with Cena possibly winning a rematch at some point.  If The Rock doesn't hang around, I would say Cena wins, as to me there's no point of having Cena lose.  It won't hurt The Rock as much to lose if he's not going to hang around.  I don't think it necessarily hurts Cena either, but why have him lose a one time match to someone who isn't going to be hanging around?

Thanks again for the question.  Let me know if you have anything else.

Have a great night!

QUESTION: yeah that makes sense ! it kind of takes away what cena will do near next years wrestlemania then because he wont have the title and he wont be in a fued. Also why was the sheamus vs daniel bryan match not shown was it to do with time or something?

ANSWER: Hi Conor.  It will be interesting to see what they do with Cena in the few months leading up to WrestleMania.  Logically, he won't be in the Royal Rumble either, since his match is already set at WrestleMania.

I haven't heard for sure why the Sheamus/Bryan match was not shown.  I'm guessing it had to do with time contraints, as WrestleMania did nearly use up the entire 4 hours.  There were only a few minutes left until the top of the next hour, so they cut it pretty close.

Thanks again for the question.

Have a great day!

QUESTION: i just have a few more questions hope you dont mind

1. do you think the time is right to turn cena heel because for a wrestlemania main even the rock vs miz match seemed quite dull is a sense that the crowd didnt seem to fussed who won it ?
2.at the end of the undertaker triple h match was taker really injured or was that an act to show how gruelling the match was ? also do you think taker will retire with the streak or do you think hel retire when he loses it ?

3. i dont know what rating wwe has now but its certainly not the same one as the attitude era my question about that is do you think the wwe will ever go back to something like that because in my opinion that was a lot better than todays shows.

4. this in relation to the 3rd question what did you think of the rocks promos since he came back i was actually surprised he used the word bitch but with wwes rating i think he was restricted in what he could say ?

Answer
Hi Conor.  Thanks for the questions.

1.  If The Rock was going to be around on a consistent basis, I could see WWE turning Cena heel.  However, since it appears The Rock will only be appearing from time to time, I don't think turning Cena right now is a good move.

For one thing, WWE has enough strong heels in The Miz, C.M. Punk, and Alberto Del Rio.  Add Cena to that, and there aren't too many strong faces.  Randy Orton and Edge would be the strongest at this point, in my opinion.  The problem with Edge is how much does he have left?  He's talked about retiring in a couple of years, and he may want to work a lighter schedule.  You can add Triple H and The Undertaker to the list of strong faces, but Triple H appears ready to work a lighter schedule, and The Undertaker already does.

I would leave Cena as a face right now, unless WWE turns one of the heels face to even it out a little.

As far as the WrestleMania match goes, it was pretty dull, but that was because of The Rock overshadowing the match.  I think everyone knew he was going to get involved at some point, and they were just waiting for it to happen.

2.  As far as I know, it was just part of the angle.  It served two purposes.  One, it showed the punishment The Undertaker took in the match, yet was still able to win.  Two, it made Triple H look strong in defeat, as he threw everything he had at The Undertaker, yet still couldn't beat him.

In my opinion, WWE should keep that streak going as long as they can.  Even if The Undertaker would retire with the streak intact, he could always come back for a match at WrestleMania.

There's also the promotion part it.  The streak is a huge promotional tool for WWE, and there's a lot of people who order WrestleMania just too see if The Undertaker keeps the streak going.

Also, at this stage of The Undertaker's career, I think his gimmick loses something if the streak ends.  It's just such a big part of his gimmick, and I see no reason to end it.

3.  I don't think it's really fair to compare the ratings today to those of the Attitude Era, mainly because there is just so much to watch on TV these days, and there is a lot more channels.  Raw's ratings these days are generally in the low to mid 3's, and is consistently one of the top rated cable shows.  The Attitude area probably doubled those ratings, but wrestling was at the peak of it's popularity back then.

I don't think WWE will be going away from its PG format.  The reason they went to it in the first place is because they were losing sponsors because of the content.

4.  Yes, I'm sure The Rock was informed what he could and could not say in his promos.  I remember a couple of times where certain words he said were bleeped out.

As far as his actual promos go, I guess I didn't think they were anything special.  Most of it was just him doing all the old stuff he did before.  I was probably one of the few fans who thought Cena's promos were actually better.

Thanks again for the question.  Let me know if you have anything else.

Have a great day!
