The Basic Swimming Strokes

You can learn to swim as an infant or at old age, it is something that suits any age group or gender and is never too late to learn. There are different types of swimming styles or strokes that could be taught to students and swimming coaching is not a complicated job as long as the trainer is confident of one’s abilities and the capability to teach. To become a swimming teacher you need to train thoroughly and understand the basic techniques of the sport.

Given below are few swimming strokes that is commonly used

Freestyle stroke or front crawl

For this stroke you need to kick hard with your feet while bringing your arms over your head and into the water one at a time. Your body must be straight if not it will slow you down. You must time the breaths that you take with your strokes.

Backstroke

For the backstroke you need to float on your back, it is very similar to the front crawl. To begin the stroke you must float in the water with your lungs on the surface and the rest of your body beneath the water. The stroke requires that the swimmer pulls the water beneath him which will propel the body through water.

Butterfly stroke

This stroke requires a dolphin style kick where your legs stay straight together as you kick them through water. The technique of the stroke is to bring both arms over your head at the same time and push them into the water to move forward.

Breaststroke

The breaststroke involves a frog style kick. You need o bend your knees and kick your legs out beneath the water. Your arms need to sweep out from your breast and sweep back to your breast. Your body needs to be completely straight between the strokes since it will help your body to move swiftly through water then.

To become a swimming teacher is not difficult as long as you have the right attributes and know the basics for training your students. If you’re a new coach or aspiring to be one then the following will come in handy for swimming coaching success.

Once you’re trained to become a coach you know the techniques and methods or strokes that is required to win but you need to communicate it the right way. What you don’t matter it’s how you do it that counts.

Engage the students in the work. As the coach you need to make sure to create an environment that allows students to do what is right for them. Using their potential to the maximum is a must.

Be positive and enthusiastic. Whether it’s swimming training or learning geography, if the teacher is enthusiastic about teaching then it will make a great impact on the students. Make sure that you keep a positive attitude that is driven by passion.

Learn from your mistakes. If you feel that the tactic that you use for coaching doesn’t do the trick, try out a new way. You can even talk to a more experienced coach to get some help.
