Pros And Cons - Above Ground & In Ground Swimming Pools

2016/7/21 15:23:53

It really should be no decision at all. A conventional in ground cement pool is always the better choice of swimming pools of you can afford one..Or is it?? Why not stop and look at all the pros and cons before you accept this logic on face value because the fact is the world is full of people who regret having an in ground pool installed.

To start of with the price discrepancy between the two types of pools has gown by astronomical proportions. Believe it because it's not at all uncommon now for people to pay over a hundred thousand dollars for the same pool that cost maybe twenty- five thousand a decade ago.

Also understand that a conventional pool builder is going to do his best to try to up-sell you on every cost enhancing feature that there is. On the other hand, you can buy an above ground pool in one complete package that includes not one up-sell sales pitch. One set price for your pool.

If you think that you're going to make any profit on your home by having a conventional in ground pool installed, you couldn't be more mistaken. The fact is that when it's all said and done, you will have actually lost money on the deal. The long and the short of it, is that there are much better ways to invest in a home.

At the same time, with the cost of an above ground pool as low as it is, you just don't take near the depreciation hit that you do an on an in ground pool. Also remember that your maintenance costs on an in ground pool will be substantially higher than on above ground swimming pools.

Really when it really comes down to it, the first big decision that people have to make when deciding on swimming pools, is whether to go with an above ground or an in ground built in. Sound like an easy decision to make? Well even if you can well afford a custom built in, there are still lots of viable reasons to go with either type.

As an example, far too many people approach the decision on a pool like it's bringing home a puppy. Sure it sounds fun at the time but bear in mind that a built in swimming pool lasts for years and years. This means that long after the kids have grown up and moved out you'll still be stuck with pool maintenance.

Also remember that the boom times for property improvements are long gone. The real estate market is flooded with foreclosed homes that have built in pools. What this means is that you just can't expect the money that you put into a pool to reflect back on the value of your home like it used to.

So just like driving a new car off a lot, you're going to take financial hit on a brand new built in pool. On the other hand, with above ground swimming pools costing but a fraction of what what a built in costs, it only stands to reason that the financial, depreciation loss would be substantially less.

Always remember that the reality is that you're only going to be using your pool for about half the year. Oh sure, in the planning stages you might think that you're going for winter swims. However; after a few of those, just like most people you'll probably find that it's much nicer to stay warm and dry on cold winter nights.
