Sizing Up Your Tent Needs When You Plan a Camping Trip

2016/7/26 11:18:43

The key part of camping is the tent that you will be sleeping in and protecting yourself from the elements in. Tents come in all shapes and sizes now, many of them with multiple room-like sections that can make sleeping outdoors more comfortable. Depending on your needs, you may find that you could use a particular kind of tent or one of a certain size to make sure that you are not only sheltered but you are comfortable as well.

Obviously tents are categorised into how many people can comfortably sleep in them, but this can sometimes be misleading as not everyone is the same size. Some two-man tents can be perfect for one person and many couples will get a four man tent so there is enough room for them and their belongings. So obviously knowing your requirements ahead of buying is going to be your best move. It is best to actually see the tents you are looking at in person so you can climb in and see what is best for you, but online tent buying guides can give you a comprehensive idea of what will work for you.

Tents can come in many different shapes but generally they will have a square or rectangular base that is best for people lying side by side. Some larger tents may have an entrance that is separate from the sleeping area, this is a good feature to look for as it allows muddy boots and dirty clothes to be kept separate. It also allows you to store other camping equipment, such as chairs or camping stoves, indoor to protect them from the elements.

The time it takes to put up and take down a tent is something that people now look at more and more, especially since there is a good chance that they may need to do this in the rain at some point and you won’t want to be in the pouring rain for prolonged periods of time fumbling with tent poles and instructions. There are some tents that pop up and take less than a minute to have set up which have become very popular thanks to their incredibly easy assembly. Although they tend to be smaller, one to two man tents, larger versions are now also available from good camping stores.

Make sure you know what you need when looking for tents and give them a test, many camping shops will have tents set up in store to allow you to get the idea of how big they are and how much space there is, and many will give you a similar virtual experience on their website.

When buying a tent you can find a wide range at all shapes and sizes by going online, as well as being able to buy essential camping equipment from sleeping bags and airbeds, to torches and camping stoves.
