Gone Fishing? Bring Along Yer Waders! How to Choose the Best Chest Waders For Fishing

2016/7/26 14:50:45

Fishermen need lots of equipment for a day or an afternoon out on the water however, one of the most important pieces of any equipment to bring along is your chest waders. Your waders literally have the ability to ruin an otherwise perfect fishing trip.

Depending on the style of fishing you do, you may or may not need chest-high waders that come in an overalls style with shoulder straps to keep them on. Many anglers wade in only a couple of feet of water deep. In this case, a pair of hip waders would likely be sufficient. The key is to make sure the waders are taller than the water is deep at the perfect part of your favorite fishing hole.

So when are chest waders recommended?

They are a good choice for when you want to fish in deeper waters. They are also ideal in somewhat aggressive streams.

Why are waders that come up to the chest more preferred among the alternatives?

For starters, chest waders provide the most coverage and this gives fishermen more flexibility. You may start out along the banks of a river, but want to get in deeper later. With coverage all the way up to your chest, you can do so without worry. Also, remember that rivers are not man made; they are a part of nature and nature is always unexpected. Many bodies of water are home to holes and unexpected drop-offs that you might not see coming. The extra coverage also comes in handy on cold, rainy, or windy days.

When buying fishing waders, it is best to opt for newer waders because they have more advancements. Some of these advancements are likely to include pockets for small tools or mini-fly boxes. Sometimes, the pockets are a combination of interior and exterior pockets.

When even you know that you want to buy a pair of chest waders, you still have a few choices. One of those choices are known as bootfoots. They are ideal because the boot is build right into the wader! This saves you time in having to buy boots and the added expense; most times, it is more cost effective to buy them together as one set. You also have a number of choices when opting for bootfoots because they tend to come with either felt or rubber soles.

As for the material, chest waters come in many different formats. You may prefer breathable material because it is more lightweight and comfortable to wear. They are also designed for all types of weather.
