Going Camping In Winter Tips

We all know about camping in summer or spring when the weather is warm, have you been camping in winter. Obviously the main thing you have to do is prepare for the cold weather and a big bonus is it’s too cold for flies.

Your camping equipment will need to suitable for the conditions. The  main things you need are a sleeping bag, tent, warm clothing and food and drinks.

Sleeping bags are rated so you can choose the one that’s suits the conditions. Whether you are going to be camping in average winter temperatures or in the mountains surrounded by snow. Choose one that is roomy enough for extra clothing. Using a tent that is suitable is very important as this is your shelter. Choose one that is stronger and well constructed for these temperatures and conditions. The tent material, guy ropes and poles must be extra strong and able to with stand extreme windy conditions. Your clothing must be suitable. Depending on what conditions you are camping in. Thermal clothing is an option in extreme conditions under your normal clothes. Waterproof boots, pants and a waterproof jacket are essential to keep warm and dry. Wearing layers is the best way, have a jacket that will be large enough to cover several layers of clothing. Pack enough food and drink with a few extras and a lighter or matches for the campfire or take a stove.

Take extra care preparing for your winter camping and have a great time. Enjoy the uniqueness of being outdoors this time of the year, take plenty of photos as the scenery will be spectacular and very different to warm weather camping.
