Choosing a Butane Camp Stove

2016/7/26 14:52:27

Being in out in the great outdoors is a lot of fun, there’s nothing like it to make you feel alive. However there are some things that you might miss about good old civilization, like that early morning cup of coffee. Or you might just hate the idea of eating beans out of a can every night.

A butane camp stove is the way to bring a little bit of home with you even when you are roughing it. The type of butane camp stove you choose is important, the wrong one could soon start collecting dust and never make it to more than one camping trip.

Size

The size of the butane camp stove you choose is very important. If you buy something too large then you might find yourself lugging around a lot of extra weight. When backpacking, or climbing it’s probably a wise idea to stay away from a gas camp stove with a double burner.

A double burner is ideal if you have a car and will not have to lug it around too much. The weight of the gas stove you buy is also another important factor when choosing the right butane camp stove. When you are assessing the weight of a butane camp stove make sure to take into account the fuel tank or cartridge, some manufacturers leave this out.

Bells And Whistles

There are some extras that you might want to look out for when shopping for a butane camp stove. A carrying case is handy; as not only does it make transportation easier, it also protects the knobs and hoses. All little things that can come off and render your stove useless.

If you will be cooking at night or want some light around your cooking area then look for a stove that will hold a lantern head. An excellent feature that many people don’t think about when choosing a camping stove.

Why Butane

A butane camp stove has several advantages over a liquid gas stove. For one it means less maintenance. They also have the bonus of being lighter, always important when you are getting ready to go camping.

When you are out in the woods you don’t really want a messy camp stove and a butane camp stove is clean burning. A butane stove also simmers better, great for making coffee and heating things up. Essential for camping trips when that’s really all you want from your camping stove.
