A Guide to Motorcycle Camping

2016/7/26 14:53:19

There are many different ways to go camping, but one of the newest ideas is motorcycle camping. Motorcycle camping is basically just like regular camping only there are specific motorcycle campgrounds to stay at and everyone typically arrives on a motorcycle as well.

Motorcycle ownership has been growing incredibly recently, especially over the last few years in particular. This is largely due to the fact that gas prices are continuing to rise, as this means that motorcycles have become a much less expensive alternative for commuting and pleasure riding. As a result of this, motorcycle campgrounds and resorts have become common place in many parts of the country.

The Details

Motorcycle camping is really not such a big deal, and can be quite the enjoyable experience. The first step is to make a checklist of all the different things you are going to need to bring on your trip. This includes a sleeping bag, sleeping pad, tent, ground cloth, pillow case, flashlight, water bottle, coffee cup, cooking pots, and cooking tools.

You may also want to consider bringing mosquito repellant and personal items such as feminine products on your motorcycle camping trip. Most people who go on these trips enjoy going with a large group of people, so a good idea to save time and money is decide what foods everyone likes and then have one person bring all of the food, one person bring the grill, one bring the sleeping items and so on. This way you will not have more of anything than you need and everyone will be well taken care of.

You will also want to bring motorcycle stuff, such as a bike cover, boots and socks, bungee cords, cargo nets, earplugs, gloves, jackets, helmets, oil, rain gloves, saddlebags, totes, a toolkit, and anything else that you think may come in handy. Keep in mind that you can always annotate the list on your trip to add missing items or delete certain items that you did not end up using. Then you can take this checklist and use it for your next motorcycle adventure.

Also know that Ziploc bags can be incredibly handy and used for many different purposes so it is ideal to always bring a pack or two of them with you on any camping trip.

Finding a Campground

There are literally hundreds of different motorcycle camping resorts and campgrounds located across the United States, and the best way to find the one closest to you is by using the Internet.
