During the summer months many students look for job opportunities to help earn money. Generally, this money is earned to help offset the expenses associated with going to college or to help earn money towards one’s college education.

Often, trying to find a summer job can be a competitive experience. This is especially true in today’s economic climate because there are many jobs that have been lost due to downsizing and the slowing of business.

Therefore, a young person who is looking for a summer job may want to find any employment position that specifically is geared towards the utilization of a young person’s energy and talent.

One specific employment field is a Christian summer camp job. If considering this type of employment opportunity, it is important to know what is a Christian summer camp job and what are some of the advantages of being employed at a Christian summer camp.

What Are Christian Summer Camp Jobs?

Christian summer camp jobs are those employment opportunities where the position calls for the worker to interact with the young camper. Specifically, those interaction opportunities could include being a counselor, assistant counselor, working maintenance, cooking, etc.

Usually, these employment opportunities can extend over the entire summer season. In addition, depending on how the Christian camp operates, there maybe multiple camping sessions during the course of the summer or one summer long camping experience for the campers.

In addition, a typical day of the camping experience could include three meals, sleeping in cabins, campfire sessions at the end of the day and recreational activities. Some of those recreational activities could include swimming, hiking, boating, horse back riding, crafts, etc.

Additionally, being a Christian summer camp, the emphasis is usually on Christian values and teaching. Specifically, there may be Bible stories and scripture memorization. Also, as an employee working at a Christian summer camp, the staff will have many opportunities to witness to others and help the campers with their spiritual growth.

There are many advantages associated with being employed at a Christian summer camp. First of all it is a wonderful experience for the young worker and could be part of a powerful resume.

Additionally, there are many rewards. Although, these rewards may not be monetary, there is the reward of working with young children and helping them in their spiritual walk. Another reward that can be realized is that the individual who works at a Christian summer camp has the wonderful opportunity of sharing their faith and Christian experience with others.
