Camping Holiday Fun In The Sun

2016/7/26 16:31:31

If you are taking your family out for your first camping holiday in the UK, there are many things to take into consideration. Following a few simple guidelines will help make things more enjoyable for you and your family as well as for your fellow campers and the environment. Most of the planning is common sense, but if you should happen to miss a step in the planning phase, it can lead to costly last minute purchases, and or a night of misery.

Getting out of the house with what you need for an enjoyable family holiday can be quite a task. Taking the time to make detailed lists and using tote bags and other sturdy large tubs for those items is key. Also, once you have developed complete lists store those on your computer or in a safe place for your next camping holiday and save a lot of time. Leave space on your lists after each item for comments so you can jot down notes for the next time, because you will inevitably forget something that you would like to do differently the next time.

Colour coding your tubs or totes saves lots of time at the camp site trying to find the hammer or the can opener. Kitchen stuff is in the green tote, camping tools are in a red tote etc. Every family has a different view on what a nice camping holiday entails and how they would like to approach it. Learning through trial and error and observing other campers and talking to them is invaluable to future camping holiday success. Campers are always happy to share the ideas that work best for them, as well as laughingly tell you about the things that did not work.

Camping is a great way to have a very enjoyable holiday with your family for relatively little expense. Campers when considerate of each other tend to be friendlier to each other then you will ever find in a resort. Children learn to make new friends quickly and enjoy it when they bump into "old friends" at another camping holiday a few months away.

Families become a working unit, together setting up and breaking down the camp site, together making meals, and enjoying those meals together! Without the myriad of electronic junk in your camping holiday that we so easily rely on in our daily lives, you talk to each other, not e-mail; you watch the stars not the TV; you sing songs together instead of listening to your I Pod.

When you get home from your camping holiday, edit what you packed! Did you use it? If you did not, remove it from your list for the next time (unless of course it was sunscreen and the whole holiday it rained). Top off the supplies you used now instead of waiting for your next camping holiday.

Refill your matches, refill your soaps, launder the towels you used and put them back with your designated camping gear. By doing this for your next trip you will have saved hours of preparation time and avoid dragging extra gear or forgetting that needed item you did not plan for on the previous trip. In conclusion, with a little planning and forethought you and your family will have a very enjoyable camping holiday.

Getting to your holiday destination with what you truly need, will make your current vacation a success and help to set your family up for future camping holiday fun!
