Your Tent Choice Will Matter In Your Camping Adventure

It’s almost spring again. The snow is beginning to thaw and green things are slowly creeping up and bringing the seasonal cycle back to a close, only to begin again.

But enough of poetic musings, let’s get down to business of choosing the right tent for your camping trips. There are two major considerations in making the right tent choice: the season or weather conditions and the number of people who will be sleeping in the tent.

Not all tents are made the same way. There is an assortment of tents you can choose from your local sporting goods store or the nearest camping and outdoors shop in your town. Some tents are made for three seasons, all seasons, convertible, and warm weather.

The three season camping tent is designed to withstand the weather conditions during spring, summer, and fall. It can withstand the lightest snow but not the harshest winter conditions. The four season tent can hold out against all weather conditions even the harshest cold weather; it is heavier than the other tents in that it has extra poles to withstand heavy snowfall and strong winds. Convertible tents, on the other hand, can be switched from a three-season tent to a four-season tent. You can add or reduce the poles you use depending on the season. The warm weather camping tent is ideal for the balmy summer days and nights. The tent is designed for maximum ventilation and is very lightweight. Based on the weather, you can be guided in choosing the right tent best suited for your needs.

The other concern you need to address is the number of people who will be sleeping in the tent. Capacity rankings are based on how many people can comfortably occupy the tent. Other factors affecting your tent choice are your level of activity, comfort and size (are you petit or heavily built?) are also taken into consideration. It might also pay to think over your decision if you have another friend joining you or if you will be hiking for a long distance. A larger tent will be needed if you have another joining you and a lightweight tent for a long hike.

Making the right decision means researching your local outdoors shops as well as the department stores. Visit outdoor and camping sites and read the recommendations of the experts. You should also check the internet for costumer feedback. A tent is an investment so you better buy one which you and your family can enjoy for many camping trips and outdoor adventures far into the future.

Your tent choice can spell the difference when you are out there camping already. A great outdoor experience is imminent when you are comfortable with your tent. You may not spend a lot of time inside it but you will lie, relax, and sleep in it after an active day with nature, a long trek, or a hard climb.

When you have made the right decision, you won’t have to worry about wind, rain and snow. You won’t have to worry about mosquitoes and ventilation. You can comfortably move around the tent. Your camping experience will be something you will remember and more likely you’ll be convinced to try it out again next year.

The weather conditions, the number of people who will sleep in it and your needs are important considerations. A tent is your home away from home and in the wild yet wonderful outdoors. So choose wisely so that you can get most out of your camping experience. Who knows, maybe after this camping experience your creativity will be pumped up and you’ll carry on your poetic musings?
