2016/7/26 17:45:14

Torres del Paine in Chile is one of those attractions that keep one amazed during entire lifetime. In practice, the sight offer a view of three granite pillars that tower the neighborhood on the altitude of more than three kilometers. Torres del Paine is a part of the same-named Chilean national park, which is located two thousand km south from Santiago, the capital of the state.

Paine Grande is the most magnificent and stunning of those three, which reaches the height of 3050 meters. It is accompanied with a succession of sharp peaks, known as Los Kuernos (horns in translation). To be more précised, in addition to the breathtaking granite spires and ridges of the mountain massif that dominates the landscape of the National Park Torres del Paine, it also covers a lot of rocks, glaciers, waterfalls, rivers, lakes and lagoons.

In fact, Torres del Paine is a part of Andean ranges, which is vividly visible in Chilean Patagonia. However, enjoying beautiful landscapes is not the only thing one can do if visiting the place.

Obviously, Torres del Paine site is quite popular among tourists, the number of which increases every year. About 20-40 thousand people visit the place, and the largest share is comprised of backpackers and hiking fans.

Trekking is popular and widely promoted around. The national park has all the conditions for trekking of any complexity: a network of trails, lodges, camping fields, modern-equipped hotels. There is a free camping Torres (Campamento Torres), located in the 3,5-hour walk from an entrance to the park . On the island of Lake Pehoe there is one of the most expensive hotels in the park - Hoster Pehoe, in which the night costs nearly 300-400 dollars. The most know trail is W-track; its route on the map resembles W-letter on Latin. It lasts 4-5 days. Although if you are coming from Puerto Natales town in Chile, it is better to buy a stock of canned and other non-perishable food to avoid food supply interruptions problem – it occurs quite often around.

One of the advantages of such backpacking tours is a possibility to examine highlights of Chilean natural environments in real life. Watching guanaco is a part of it, as far as these animals are distributed only on the western side of the national park exclusively. Besides, go boating is a must-do thing around, especially if we are talking about Pehoe Lake. Crossing this lake means getting closer to marvelous Grey Glacier, one more natural wonder of Torres del Paine.
