How to Handle a Survival Situation in the Wilderness

2016/7/26 18:05:48

You never know when you will be faced with a survival situation, be it urban or in the wilds. To help you, I compiled what you should do in such situations. Feel free to edit and tell me how can I improve this article.

Steps

  1. 1 Never lose your head! If you lose your head, you may find it being eaten by vultures. Your head, more accurately your brain, is the best tool you can have to survive. Humans have unique abilities they developed during their evolution. Use them!
  2. 2 Remember the rule of the three! You can survive three weeks without food, three days without water, but only three hours exposed at extreme temperatures!
  3. 3 Adapt yourself to the surrounding environment! If you are reading this, it is because we are the most adaptive species on the face of earth! If it's hot, your tendency is to take all your clothes off. Wrong! Leave at least a piece of clothing that is light and protects you from the sun,  while keeping yourself fresh. If it's cold, find shelter immediately!
  4. 4 Find some type of Shelter: very important to survive! In a forest, tie several branches in order to make a teepee, and cover it with leaves. This may seem ironic, but in cold situations, the best shelter is to cover yourself with snow. Dig a hole. Put a cover at the bottom. Put some branches and leafs at the top to cover the hole. Put some snow on top of it. Slip inside and sleep! In the desert, the same thing, but with sand, and you don't need to put branches and leaves.
  5. 5 Locate a source of Water. If you dehydrate, you will start having hallucinations, and you will die. If you see bird feces in the desert, water is near! The quickest way of purification is decantation, but it is not very safe. Never do this if the water isn't 100% free of bacteria!
